Foods That Will Help Quench Your Thirst

Good hydration is one of the most vital parts of maintaining good health. In fact, your body needs water to survive. You must refill your body's water supply since you constantly lose water through breathing, sweating, peeing, and bowel movements.

While plain water alone is sufficient for hydration, it isn't the only way to stay hydrated. If you're bored of tasteless, boring water, there are several nutritious foods—especially fruits and vegetables—with high water content that does a pretty good job of hydrating the body.

Quench your thirst with these hydrating foods:

Cucumber - Cucumbers are the most water-rich food of them all. They're made up of 95% water. They're also low in calories and a source of vitamins and fiber.

Zucchini - One cup of zucchini contains 94% water and 1 gram of fiber that keeps you feeling full. It can be eaten as a side dish or added to soups, salads, and stir-fries. Zucchini suits many diets, such as keto, paleo, vegan, or low-carb.

Watermelon - When you bite into a piece, you instantly know how it got its name. Watermelon is around 90% water and 6% sugar, making it a perfectly sweet, refreshing, low-calorie summer snack.

Strawberries - Strawberries contain 23 calories and comprise approximately 92% water. They can be easily incorporated into your diet by blending them into smoothies or adding them to salads.

Cantaloupe - Cantaloupe is low in carbs and comprises 90% water. You can consume cantaloupe plain or add it to salads, smoothies, yogurt, or salsa.

Peaches - Peaches are made up of 89% water. They're rich in fiber and antioxidants and provide several vitamins and minerals. They go well with yogurt, cottage cheese, smoothies, salads, and other dishes.

Oranges - Oranges contain about 88% water. The water and fiber in oranges may promote feelings of fullness and help you regulate your appetite.

Lettuce - Lettuce is up to 96% water in addition to 1 gram of fiber. Making salads using lettuce is an easy way to get more of it into your diet. In addition, you can use it as a "bun" for burgers or wrap instead of a tortilla for a healthier option.

If drinking plain water isn't helping you get the recommended amount of fluids daily, supplement it by "eating your water." Incorporate water-rich foods in your diet to get a steady stream of hydration and nutrients to keep your body energized and maintain its optimal function.
